Music Department

Music is the one art we all have inside. We may not be able to play an instrument, but we can sing along or clap or tap our feet.”  ~ Fred Rogers

Yocum Institute offers both classes and private instruction in music. Equipped with five private music studios and one large studio in its music wing, the Institute provides a high level of music education and performance opportunities. Currently, private lessons are offered in strings, piano, woodwinds, guitar and voice. Other instruments will be considered. We also offer music classes.

Berks Piano Quartet

Left to right: Ethan Zhou, Kyle Zhang, Alicia Wong, and Jordan Smith

The Yocum Institute is proud to present the Berks Piano Quartet, an ensemble featuring four young keyboard virtuosos playing on two pianos.

Since its founding in 2011, the Quartet has given over fifty concerts throughout the community, and has inspired the formation of other groups from beginners to senior citizens.

Directed by educator and composer James Neher, the Quartet is a cooperative effort involving accomplished students recommended by prominent area teachers. They appear year-round as ambassadors of music (playing exciting versions of symphony showpieces, classical favorites, and lively extras from Sousa to ragtime) in auditoriums and community centers of all kinds.

Look for upcoming performances on our events calendar.

For more information about auditioning or to book a performance, please call James Neher at 610.376.1576.
